Interesting bakelite obelisk. At almost a foot tall, and close to 3 pounds, this is one of the largest chunks of bakelite we have ever encountered. We believe this to possibly have been part of a desk set, perhaps with our triangle bookends, but we are not certain (our pieces were purchased at different times and locations). Please note that the heavy web-like crazing does affect the whole piece,and is most noticeable on the butterscotch areas. Unfortunately, the crazing seems to be a normal part of the aging process in some bakelite, however it does not detract from the engaging attraction of this exciting and rare find. Lovely green and yellow marbled color, with rich golden patina.
