Tricorne and Streamline by Salem.
1935
4 Dinner Plates
4 Saucers
4 Tea Cups
Covered Sugar Bowl
Creamer
Created during the Deco Period, but with a moderne, futuristic, Jetsons look. This design was way ahead of it's time, and there is nothing like it on the market today.
Manufactured by: Salem China Company of Ohio.
White with silver decoration (bottom stamped "Platinum/Gold alloy").
Though the set is perfectly matched, and manufactured by the Salem (OHIO) Company, the cups have a different name than the plates. A quick patent check may explain why. The designers /patent holders were different.
The cups, marked STREAMLINE, were designed by Vincent Broomhall and Herbert A. Smith. Patent filed 1935.
The plates, marked TRICORNE, were designed by Don Schreckengos and F.H. Sebring, Jr. Patent filed 1934.
Please see the Streamline patent here. See the Tricorne Patent here.
