It is a generous 1/2" thick at the thickest point - the front opening. The hinge has lots of life left in it, and it is very wearable. Please note that it's probably not as tight as it was when it was new, 60+ years ago. This one is an attention getter! Disclosure: there is a thin line inside that appears to have been done when carving. It is not a flaw or a crack in the bakelite. This does not affect the look or life of this bracelet.
