Good strong mid-century design from known Mexico City artist Juventino Lopez Reyes. 925 Sterling Silver, made in Mexico. They are beautiful and bold, and in excellent condition.
Beginning his career at the tender age of 10, JLR started operating the bellows for the silver smelting at Plateria Maciel. After years of observing and learning, Juventino opened his own shop, the Plateria del Recreo (Mexico City) in 1935. After a short time, he decided to specialize in flatware and hollowware. Most of his styles were classic, not modern. That fact makes these candlesticks all the more interesting, due to their very modern design. The plateria is still in business, and is now managed by his son, Juventino Lopez Manrique. I am unsure as to the age of this set. It does not have the eagle mark (1948-80). Each one weighs just over 9 ounces. Just over 3 inches tall by approx. 3" diameter. The price is for the pair.
