Gorgeous pair of vintage Mexican Sterling Silver Candlesticks. I am unsure as to the age of this set. It does not have the eagle mark (1948-80). Each one weighs just under 11 ounces. Approx. 5 inches tall The price is for the pair.
About the artist: Beginning his career at the tender age of 10, JLR started operating the bellows for the silver smelting at Plateria Maciel. After years of observing and learning, Juventino opened his own shop, the Plateria del Recreo (Mexico City) in 1935. After a short time, he decided to specialize in flatware and hollowware. Most of his styles were classic, not modern. The plateria is still in business, and is now managed by his son, Juventino Lopez Manrique.
