This is one of the larger pieces by this artist that we have come across. It measures 2.25" across by 2" long.
The pendant features an impressed branch design. (please ignore our camera's reflection).
The back is appropriately stamped with the maker's mark, FHB.
Also stamped STERLING.
Frances Holmes Boothby was a mid century modernist jeweler. Her pieces were hand made, and many were one of a kind. It has been reported that she worked in silver, gold, wood and plastics. We have only seen examples of her work in sterling, however. We would be happy to buy some of the other pieces - call us if you find any!
It appears that into the 1970s Ms. Boothby was participating in Art Shows around Schenectady NY, and teaching jewelry making in Albany. She was lived in Vermont for a time.
Frances Holmes Boothby passed away in Sedona, AZ in 2000, at age 81.
