Gorgeous antique Colonial pattern two handled sterling silver dish by Marshall Fields in-store workshop circa 1908.
The popularity of Arts & Crafts hand wrought silver was such that in 1904, the majestic retailer, Marshall Field & Company opened an in house workshop on its 10th floor establishment. It would seem that thousands of pieces must have been produced, yet they are scarce today. We've not yet encountered a single piece here in Chicago. This beauty came from an NYC estate.
Overall Condition is very nice:
Heavy Hammer marks visible (a feature of the MF&CO workshop pieces).
As found patina, unpolished.
Bottom rim has 2 very small slight mis-shapened areas. Visible in photograph.
