This is a novelty compact, in rare pristine condition. Made by Zell, this compact comes in its original box, along with the paper insert.
The top of the compact has a decorative applique of a flashlight.
There is a pink powder puff that says ZELL. Two compartments in the inside with plastic trays to hold the powder and the flashlight.
I was surprised to discover that this little flashlight actually works. I would have thought the battery would be dead (or leaking) after all these years. I cannot guarantee how much longer it will work, but if you can find replacement batteries and bulbs, it may continue to work for you.
I would place this at the tail end of the compact popularity, very early 1960s.
