This is an incredible bag with a Josef Made in France Label. It is in usable, very attractive condition.
The bag features over ONE THOUSAND beautiful crystals beautifully crafted into this stunning purse. I am not sure, but my guess would be that these are Austrian crystals due to the extensive "bling" and reflective sparkle these give off. None are missing.
The lining is a thick satin or acetate, in a creamy white color. There are some scattered marks / stains. See photo.
Internal pocket for holding a mirror (not included) or lipstick (not included).
The frame of the purse also has beautiful rhinestone trim in the front. The purse appears to be hand made.
This purse has been used, but it has lots of life left in it.
The handle is a standard coiled metal chain.
There are a few minor issues which do not affect usability, but would affect a serious collector.
The label securely attached, however part of it has unraveled from the unattached end.
There are marks (make-up, pen) in the inside of the lining.
7" by 5", handle measures 10" long.
A word about the Designer:
This company was not connected in any way to Joseff of Hollywood jewelry.
The JOSEF Company was owned by American Joseph Newman. He said he created the name JOSEF by adding the first letter of his wife Fannie's name to the first few letters of his name. He attended the Armour Institute of Technology in Chicago. He considered himself a "handbag engineer" and is credited with the invention of the "Over the Shoulder" handbag in 1946. This new type of handbag was a reaction to the "jet age", it would allow a woman the use of both hands and the freedom to "shake hands, light a cigarette, and carry her own luggage" while traveling.
