To think that this was designed in the 1930s is amazing. Today this still carries relevance as a unisex modernist design. Clean, neat, focused, and fantastic. It is devoid of the ornamentation one associates with 1930s-40s Jensen. The designer appears to have been an architect or engineer due to the fine structure of the elements which make up this bracelet.
With a 7.5" wearable length, this would fit a medium to large ladies' wrist or a smaller man's wrist.
There is a nice clasp with fold-over lock.
This beauty carries the 1933-44 Georg Jensen Hallmark (GJ in a square), and as an added bonus, it also carries the old Swedish Import marks. More than likely this was sold at the Georg Jensen Stockholm store (opened in 1919).
Wonderful patina. Please note that this bracelet has been worn and loved over the years. There are scratches present, with the most significant one shown enlarged in above photos. We have not polished this, but most evidence of previous wear can be power buffed by a jeweler. A mirror finish is possible, if desired.
About Functionalism and Georg Jensen:
In 1927 the Danish Government organized a traveling exhibit of fine Danish Craftsmanship, in order to stir up interest in exports to the US market. the US press coverage was enthusiastic and hailed Georg Jensen as a leader in a new modernist aesthetic, which became known as the Functionalist movement . Functionalism was partly expressed through geometric form and lack of ornamentation. One of the Jensen designers who participated in the show was Oscar Gundlach-Pedersen. This bracelet's designer is unknown to us, but we feel that it may possibly have been designed by Gundlack-Pedersen. ( please see our Jensen pin which is related )
