We are pleased to present a truly rare find, a very intriguing, museum quality early 20th century purse.  This stunning handbag is crafted from super soft and pliable elephant hide.
The front decoration is a beautiful guilloche enamel in gorgeous sapphire blue.
The enamel is applied to metal (unmarked, perhaps silver), which is embellished with deep carving.
The center of the enamel contains an incredible elephant ivory carved classic figure.

Total length is 13", with the purse portion being 6".
The handle is approx. 7" long (folded).

The interior is lined with a gray faille type fabric. There are 3 compartments inside.  There is a pocket on either side, with a center compartment which has a clasp.


No maker's mark has been found.   

The craftsmanship is beyond compare. We have never seen anything that even comes close to this purse.
It was acquired in France many years ago. and it was sold as an antique. We believe it is circa 1910.
